You cannot shrink a pore. Pore size is largely inherited, and anything promising to close them is selling a temporary optical effect and calling it a change. What you can change is how visible they are, and that is a real difference rather than a consolation.

The CO2Lift Pro Carboxy Gel Mask, stocked by LAZ Skincare.
Works on the tissue around the pore rather than on the opening itself.

The short answer

The CO2Lift Pro Carboxy Gel Mask works on pores from the direction that actually moves them. It firms and hydrates the tissue around the opening rather than trying to clean the opening out, and it leaves a genuine blurring effect on the surface afterward.

Forty-five minutes on clean, dry skin, wiped rather than rinsed.

What it will not do is alter the pore you were born with. If your pores are large and always have been, the honest goal is making them recede rather than disappear. It also will not clear a pore that is packed and blocked, which is a different job needing extraction.

Why do my pores look larger than they used to?

Because a pore is a hole held open by the tissue around it, and when that tissue loses support the opening reads as bigger. Nothing has grown. The scaffolding has softened.

What changes the appearance:

  • Collagen loss. As the surrounding structure weakens, pores stretch and lose their round, tight shape. This is why they become more obvious with age even if your oil production has dropped.
  • Dehydration. Plump skin closes around a pore. Dehydrated skin sits back from it, and the opening becomes a small shadow.
  • Oil. More sebum passing through an opening keeps it dilated, which is why oily areas show it first.
  • Inflammation and sun damage, both of which degrade the collagen doing the holding.

Genetics sets the baseline and you do not get to negotiate with it. Everything else on that list is negotiable, which is where the work is.

This is also why stripping and scrubbing backfires so reliably. You dehydrate the skin and damage the structure holding the pore shut, and the pore looks worse a week later than it did before you started.

The CO2Lift Pro Carboxy Gel Mask from the LAZ Skincare range.
No acid, no scrub, nothing astringent. For pores that is the right call.

What actually makes pores look smaller?

Firming and hydrating the skin around the opening, and smoothing the surface so light stops catching in it. The CO2Lift Pro Carboxy Gel Mask comes at it from both ends at once.

Carbon dioxide, sodium alginate and magnesium carbonate form the gel and drive the circulation. Better blood supply supports the collagen work that holds a pore in shape, which is the slow half and the half that lasts.

Hydrolyzed collagen plumps the tissue immediately around each opening. Plump the rim and the hole reads smaller, which is most of what people are actually asking for.

Ceramides 1, 3 and 6 II with cholesterol and phytosphingosine hold water in. A barrier that stops leaking keeps the surrounding skin full, and full skin does not sit back from a pore.

Silica, titanium dioxide and iron oxides leave a soft blurring and mattifying finish once the mask comes off. This is the immediate part, and it is exactly why makeup goes on better that evening.

Aloe and butylene glycol keep it hydrating rather than tightening, and chlorella with kudzu root support clarity around the openings.

Note what is absent. No acid, no scrub, nothing astringent. For pores that is the correct choice and it is the opposite of what most pore products do.

How long does pore refinement take?

A visible smoothing the same evening, from the hydration and the blurring finish. Genuine refinement, where the pores look better on a day you have done nothing, takes a completed series and about a month.

One client came to me about pores across her cheeks and nose that bothered her most under makeup. We ran a series across a month and simplified the rest of her routine at the same time. By the end her skin was visibly smoother and less oily, and her makeup was sitting properly without a primer.

Simplifying the routine was doing as much work as the mask. She had been attacking those pores for years.

Who it does not suit: anyone expecting pores to close permanently, since that is not available from anything. Anyone whose pores are blocked rather than open, who needs extractions first. And anyone unwilling to stop the strips and scrubs, because those undo this faster than it works.

Plump the rim and the hole reads smaller. That is the whole mechanism.

What to do

  1. Stop the pore strips, scrubs and astringents. They are the reason the problem has been getting worse.
  2. Apply the CO2Lift Pro Carboxy Gel Mask to clean, dry skin and leave it for around forty-five minutes.
  3. Remove it gently without rinsing and press the remaining essence in.
  4. Follow with a simple moisturizer. No actives afterward, the mask has done enough for one evening.
  5. Run a series of three, five to seven days apart, then maintain monthly. One application is a good evening rather than a change.

Sunscreen every morning matters more for pores than people realize. UV degrades the collagen holding them in shape, and that is the slow reason they widen.

Smoother that evening. Refinement that holds by the end of a series. Then monthly, or the surrounding tissue softens again and you are back where you started.
